“At 13, my first motorcycle – a 50 cc Honda CRE – was pushed past the Carabinieri into our meadows so I could ride there. And at 14, we were still allowed to explore the world without a license. Meeting friends, village festivals, and all sorts of mischief were suddenly possible independently. For me, turning 14 was a much bigger event than getting my car license at 18.
Father Erich – the silverback – started in 1976 with a Victoria 50 cc and passed the passion for motorcycle on to all his sons. Mamma Anna prefers the role of passenger. After the Honda came an Aprilia RS 125 cc, followed by a Husqvarna 450 Supermoto, and then a Ducati 748. As the bikes became more powerful, naturally, so did the range and length of our tours.
When we bought the hotel in 2010, Erich began to focus on becoming a motorcycle hotel. According to him, you do best what you love to do. In 2012, we pulled off a real coup: We became a BMW Test centre, and in 2014, finally, a MoHo member. As a test centre, we have always had a great selection of current BMW motorcycles available for our guests. Erich also became Italy’s first BMW tour guide, and of course, we sons took every opportunity to thoroughly test the bikes.
Opportunity makes the rider: With the BMWs, my passion for motorcycling grew even stronger, and in 2017, I completed my training as a BMW tour guide. After that, I began taking long motorcycle journeys: The first took me overland to Morocco and back along the Mediterranean coast. Then came Romania and many, many tours in the Alps with my BMW F 800 GS.
In 2020, I finally set out with a simple plan: to ride down the Atlantic coast of Africa and back up the other side. In the end, I rode the Dakar Rally route to Lac Rose and made it across West Africa. But in Lagos, Nigeria, COVID finally caught up with me and ended my journey. Unfortunately, my beautiful motorcycle also fell victim to the circumstances. But with our fleet at home, it’s easy to overcome even such losses.
Now, I am the tour guide and your contact at Moto Fun Anna for all things motorcycle. With the experience of thousands of kilometers on the road, I can offer my guests excellent advice thanks to my local knowledge. On guided tours, I share my favorite routes and places with guests. Of course, some tales from my adventure travels are not to be missed. Father Erich is usually there too, adding his motorcycle stories to our lively conversations.”
