From Glaciers to Vineyards

Hiking Paradise Val Venosta

Your hiking holiday in Silandro is defined by a wide variety of experiences that will delight every hiking enthusiast – from idyllic mountain lakes such as the famous Lake Resia, Lake Göflan at 2,500 meters above sea level, and Lake Zufritt in Martell Valley, to relaxing Waalweg canal trails and rustic alpine pastures, all the way to challenging summit tours in the Ortler Alps.

If you prefer a gentler and more joint-friendly approach, you can still stay active and discover the trending sport of Nordic walking –enjoying movement in the fresh air with two poles.

Experience the majestic nature surrounding the "King Ortler," the highest mountain in South Tyrol at 3,905 meters. On exciting guided hikes, you will immerse yourself in the scenic and diverse beauty of Stelvio National Park.

Alpine farming is deeply rooted in our culture. In our valley, this historic heritage is still very much alive with 80 active alpine pastures. Hike through living cultural landscapes and traditional land stewardship.

Water is life – here in one of the driest valleys of the Alps, we know this well. Our ancestors built canal trails (Waalwege) everywhere, some of which run spectacularly along the mountainside and now serve as ideal hiking trails.

Val Venosta offers two special high-mountain trails: the Vinschger High-Mountain trail on the Sonnenberg and the Ortler High-Mountain trails around the Ortler. Both routes require sure-footedness, good physical condition, and appropriate equipment.

Through Valleys and Heights

Discover the Landscape by Bike

Here you can enjoy one of the sunniest locations in the Alps –with around 300 days of sunshine per year, offering ideal conditions for cyclists and mountain bikers. Over 150 kilometers of signposted bike paths lead through valleys and mountains, providing routes for every level, including families. With the VinschgauCard, you receive a 10% discount on bike rentals with our partner.

Look forward to leisurely cycling along the “Via Claudia Augusta” bike path – the ancient Roman road following the Adige River. The route stretches for about 80 kilometers from Lake Resia to Merano.

Ride comfortably up to the alpine pastures, continue to the summit, or experience the pass road at the Stelvio Pass – with an e-bike, Val Venosta offers countless possibilities, allowing everyone to discover the impressive landscape in their own way.

In addition to trails for every level of skill and fitness – from cross-country to extreme downhill – road cyclists will also find many challenges, such as the Three Countries Tour, the Stelvio Pass, and the stage finish in Martell Valley.
