  Our farm

Our farmyard was mentioned for the first time already in the 11th century as the “Farm on the Sand”, due to the fact that it was located next to a little brook. In the 16th century, a judge by the name of Steinberger bought the farmyard and gave him his name “Steinbergerhof”. As we, the family Vill, have been farming the Steinbergerhof for about a century by now, we thought that it was time to change its name to The Vill Farm.

White buildings, wooden beams, stables and other animal buildings, spacious barns, a colourful garden, fowls, cats and the cheerful whinnies of horses - all this is part of The Vill Farm in Schlanders (Silandro), the main town of the Vinschgau Valley (Val Venosta). The holiday community with its traffic-calmed area nestles in widespread orchards. 720 m above sealevel Schlanders is situated between Meran (Merano) and Reschenpass (Passo di Resia), only a few kilometres north of Stilfser Nationalpark (Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio) with its imposing three-thousand-metre mountains.

The village centre with its traffic-free zone, stylish shops, pristine restaurants and quiet coffee-houses looks as pretty as a picture combining village life and up-to-dateness. Local residents and holidaymakers equally appreciate the dry climate with many sunny days. Statistics prove that Schlanders belongs to the sunniest areas of Südtirol (Sudtirolo).

The vegetation of the surrounding hillsides is varied: the fascinating landscape is characterized by shady woods, deep green meadows, fertile vineyards and peaceful chestnut groves.

Organic farming and cosy holiday flats

The Vill Farm is one of the oldest buildings in Schlanders. For generations owned by the family its origin dates back to more than 1000 years ago. The spacious family-farm leads the way in organic fruit-growing having been cultivated organically since 1989.

Demeter products of prime quality are cultivated. Delicious crisp fresh apples are the main product. The growing of vegetables and livestock farming complete the agricultural activities. Aditionally the family keeps lovable horses for qualified riding lessons, cross-country rides and rides in a coach. The farm with its four holiday flats as well as the rural and familiar atmosphere invite you to relaxing holidays.
